Long road trips - those can be boring. Kids in the car constantly asking, "Are we there yet?" When I was a kid, I spent a lot of time in the car traveling wherever my parents decided to go. One of my favorite games was the license plate game - you try to find license plates from all 50 states.
Now that I am a parent myself with my wonderful wife Trisha, we do spend quite a bit of time in the car traveling ourselves. And of course we play the license plate game. Well, honestly, I play the license plate game, and the rest of the family humors me and plays along.
During the summer of 2015, I used an iphone app to keep track of all the license plates that I saw during that summer. I did the same during the summer of 2016. Then I ran some geeky statistical correlations and regressions. Then I came up with a scoring method for finding out-of-state license plates. I also wrote up 2 lengthy geeky statistical reports for those two summers which I will share in future posts.
The reason why I'm sharing this information in a blog is that I don't know how to write an app. Some people say it is really easy. Some say it's beyond impossible. I'm sure both statements are true depending on who you are talking to. I decided not to frustrate myself trying to learn computer programming and stick to what I do know a little bit about - blogging!!
So, I have created this new blog to share my scoring method.
