Here are the rules -
Actually, there is the first commandment that you must follow. This commandment supersedes any other rule(s) for this game -
You. Will. Drive. Safely.
Now here are the rules:
1. Follow the first commandment - You. Will. Drive. Safely.
2. Have fun!!
3. Everyone in the car should work together to earn points - this is a cooperative game.
a. One recommendation is that this game should be played on longer car trips that are done somewhat frequently such as between home and relatives homes. Keep track of points going to and from between the two places and see if you can get a new high score.
b. For longer special trips/vacations, you could keep score on the way there and compare to on the way back.
c. It could also be played weekly/monthly by keeping score to see which time frame has the highest score.
4. License plates on semi-trucks do not count.
5. License plates on U-hauls, Ryder, and rental trucks and trailers for moving do not count.
6. Rental cars do count (some people can tell if a car is a rental or not, most can't, so don't waste time trying to figure that out).
7. License plates on business owned pickup trucks/cars do count.
8. If you are driving by yourself, use a hands free recording system - such as Siri - to record which license plate you saw. Then figure out your score later on.
9. Make sure that you are in fact driving safely!!
10. License plates on the front of a car do not count - with the exception of Hawaii which I will explain next.
(It is possible for a front license plate to be different from the back license plate and therefore only the back license plate counts).
11. The scoring method I've established is 1-100. If you see Hawaii on the back of a vehicle in the 49 states, you score 500 points.
12. If a vehicle only has a Hawaii license plate on the front - that will be worth 200 points.
13. Have fun!!
14. Drive Safely!!
15. Obviously, you are free to modify these rules for yourself and your family and friends; however, you are not allowed to modify the first commandment - You. Will. Drive. Safely.
